Telegram Story & Media Saver · Effective 2026-08-09 · Last updated 2026-08-09

This policy explains what data the Telegram Story & Media Saver Android app (com.driftstudio.story.downloader.downloadtelegramstory) collects, how it uses that data, and the controls you have. In plain terms: the app is a local gallery viewer for media Telegram has already saved to your device. Your photos, videos, voice notes, and documents never leave your phone.

Summary: No account, no login, no cloud sync, no analytics tracking. The only data ever transmitted off your device is a Google-issued advertising identifier that Google AdMob uses to serve the in-app banner ad — and you can turn that off in Android system settings.

1. What we collect and share

Data type Collected on-device? Sent off device? Purpose
Photos, videos, audio files, documents on your device Read from local storage to display in the in-app gallery No Display media the user has saved via Telegram
App preferences (which folders you've picked, feature toggles) Stored in on-device DataStore No Remember your setup between launches
Crash logs Written to app-private storage Only if you tap Settings → Send crash report and pick a share target yourself Diagnose problems you choose to report
Google Advertising ID (GAID) Read from Google Play Services at runtime Yes — sent to Google AdMob with ad requests Ad serving, frequency capping, ad measurement

We do not collect: your name, email, phone number, contacts list, location (precise or approximate), SMS, call logs, browsing history, health or financial data, biometrics, or any user-provided identifier of any kind. The app requests none of these permissions.

2. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Media Saver is free and supported by a single native ad card shown on the Discover and Saved tabs. Ads are served by Google AdMob, a Google service that uses the device's Advertising ID (GAID) to select and measure ads. Google's own Privacy Policy governs how AdMob uses this data.

You can:

3. Permissions the app requests

PermissionWhy it's needed
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_MEDIA_AUDIO (Android 13+) or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (older Android) Read photos, videos, and voice notes Telegram has saved to your device so the app can display them.
READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED (Android 14+) Enables the three-way "Select photos and videos" system dialog for partial access.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) Only requested when you enable the optional Quick Access or Import Reminder features.
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW Only requested when you enable the optional Floating Bubble feature.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE Keeps the Floating Bubble overlay visible when the app is backgrounded.
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS Only requested for the optional Import Reminder feature, to detect when Telegram was recently used.
INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Used solely by Google AdMob to load ads and by Google's UMP SDK to fetch the consent form for EEA/UK users. The app itself never opens a network connection with your media.
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID Required on Android 13+ so Google AdMob can serve targeted ads. Removing it makes ads far less effective without changing anything else about the app.

4. Data retention and deletion

Since the app stores nothing about you on any server, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. All in-app data (preferences, granted folder permissions, crash logs) lives only on your device.

To wipe everything the app stores:

Note: photos or videos you've saved to your device gallery (via Telegram's own "Save to Gallery" feature) are not touched by the actions above — they belong to your gallery, not to Media Saver. Delete them from your Gallery app if desired.

5. Children's privacy

Media Saver is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app's minimum age category on Google Play reflects this.

6. Third-party services

No other third-party SDK is bundled with the app. No analytics, crash-reporting SaaS, or user-tracking library is included.

7. Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts collecting a new category of data, this policy will be updated before that release ships, and the update date at the top will change. Material changes will also be summarised in the app's release notes on Google Play.
